School Facilities
Parkview School is a controlled co-educational school providing specialist nursery, primary and post-primary education for pupils with severe learning difficulties and those with a range of educational needs that can best be met within a special school environment.
The current school enrolment is 218 pupils in the age range 3-19 years.
The present school building, located on the outskirts of the city of Lisburn, was opened in 1996.
A specially designed Extended Education Centre was opened in 2001 to facilitate the implementation of the school’s programme for pupils aged 16-19 years. Two further classrooms were added in 2009 and agin in 2021 to facilitate the increasing demand for places.
A purpose-built Nursery Unit was opened in 2003 to provide specialist nursery education for young children exhibiting developmental delay and/or traits associated with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Pupils are admitted to the school by the Education Authority in accordance with the regulations laid down by the Education (NI) Order 1996.
Requests for places should be made directly to the Special Education Department of the Education Authority.
