The Nursery Curriculum

The children in Parkview nursery experience the nursery curriculum through play and other relevant experiences. Play is the most natural way for a child to learn and through it many basic skills are acquired, attitudes fostered and concepts explored. Activities are designed to promote the child's growth in the following areas:

The Foundation Stage Curriculum

Following the introduction of the Revised Northern Ireland Curriculum

Years 1 and 2 have been renamed the ‘Foundation Stage’.

The aim of the Foundation stage is to provide children with an appropriate programme of learning to develop their dispositions to learn and assist them to develop the skills and competences they will need to succeed in school and in future life.

Well-planned play and practical activities provide opportunities for children to begin to develop an awareness of:

a range of social and learning skills.
